The Role of ELEF

ELEF was formed in 1982 when a meeting of delegates from eight European national lupus organisations took place in London. Delegates sought to learn from one another and the charity now has 16 member organisations representing 15 countries and expects to expand. Some 20,000 lupus patients are presently registered within these countries. the aim is to promote a greater knowledge and awareness of lupus and to encourage the formation of affiliation of further national Support Groups. Brian Hanner, Director of Lupus UK, is two years through his three year term of office as Chairman of ELEF.
